This weeks blog comes to your from beautiful Cabo San Lucas, Mexico and is all about what to bring for makeup and skincare when traveling.
Jessica likes to pack light when she travels but still wants to make sure she has all of her essentials. She is going to give us a rundown on everything she brought with her to give you an idea of what to pack in your makeup bag when traveling.
The UV index and heat of the tropical sun can really do a lot of damage to the skin, so it’s important to bring proper products to protect yourself.
UVA and UVB rays will damage your skin, causing aging and sunburn, which is the last thing we want.
We love to use Jane Iredale products because they are nice and light and offer SPF protection to prevent the sun’s powerful rays from damaging the skin.
Jessica likes to start with a layer of Jane Iredale BB Cream
Next, she applies a layer of Jane Iredale powdered sunscreen.
After applying the powdered sunscreen, Jessica likes to seal it in with a Jane Iredale pressed powder. Jane products are great because even though you are using multiple layers of products, they are very light and breathable, although we don’t recommend it you, can even fall asleep in them. It’s best to use a gel face wash to remove any makeup at night before going to bed.
Cleanser and Moisturizer
Next up is this cleansing milk from Comfort Zone. This is great in humid climates, it's very gentle and won’t strip away all of the moisture from your skin.
She also uses a moringa serum to re-hydrate the skin overnight.
Loofahs are great for exfoliating the skin. In the tropical heat, your skin can become dry and even flaky, so these are great for removing any dry and dead skin.
Next is a travel sized bottle of natural body wash.
Jessica loves her Jane Iredale shimmer lotion. This stuff is beautiful and light. It’s great to give your skin a dewy sun kissed look.
Jessica takes eyelash glue wherever she goes.
It’s always good to bring an extra set of your favorite Dollar Eyelash Club lashes. Jessica likes to bring 2 or 3 pairs, depending on how long she is going to be travelling. This dollar lash club has you covered for beautiful dollar lashes.
Jessica recommends bringing one brush for contour, one for powder, one for eyeshadow and one for blending.
Jessica also likes to travel with a basic eyeshadow palette, just enough for a variety of smokey eyes or to do a natural make-up look.
It is not necessary to bring a ton of makeup on vacation, we generally just bring our favorite and most used products with us (in the picture is one of the Tartelette palettes from Tarte).
Lip stains are great for long lasting lip color that doesn’t have to be reapplied very often.
PROTIP: You can apply a layer of chapstick before applying lip stain to prevent your lips from getting dehydrated
It’s always a good idea to bring a lip pencil for your dark stains to keep your lips from bleeding and to maintain a clean line around the edges of your lips.
You never know when you’re gonna need a q-tip. They are great for quick cleanup of any smudged make-up.
Travel size perfume to keep you smelling your best.
Bronzer. Never leave home without it.
Blackhead removal tool to get rid of any unsightly pores. The humidity and heat in the air here opens up the pores and makes it a great time to get rid of any blemishes or blackheads you may have.
That’s all for now!
