Tips to Battle Blemishes

Are you tired of those pesky blemishes ruining your vibe?  Do you want clear perfect skin that looks flawless? Even though nobody’s skin is perfect, there are so many tips that lead you in the right direction. Keeping a routine is definitely key in battling and preventing blemishes. There are also some everyday tips to add to your daily routines.

Wash Your Face Once a Day

It may seem obvious, but cleansing your face once a day is extremely important. Every day your pores are bombarded with dirt and bacteria. Cleansing your face with a renewing cleanser like the soy cleanser from Fresh will definitely fight those imperfections. When choosing a cleanser, make sure to pay close attention to the ingredients. Don’t put anything on your skin that you can’t pronounce or has questionable ingredients.

Tone your Skin

Toning your skin is a step that is often forgotten. Toning will help get rid of any excess oil, dirt, and grime out of your pores that were missed with the wash. It can also help shrink the appearance of pores.

Most importantly, it will balance the skin’s pH levels. Our skin’s pH level sits at 4.5 – 5.5. Your skin is your body’s first line of defense to outside toxins. Outside of the correct pH level, your skin can become vulnerable to bacteria and infections. Toners restore your skin’s pH balance after cleansing.

Try using Witch Hazel on a cotton pad and lightly wiping the product on your face.

PROTIP: Keep in mind witch hazel is naturally a little drying, so make sure moisturize after.

Oil That Skin Up

You wouldn’t think to put oil on your skin to clear it up. More often than not, we try to avoid oil. Using an oil such as rose oil will do more than moisturize your skin. The key is limited ingredients in a product.

If you end up getting your hands on a high-grade essential oil, you'll be applying a product on your skin that is very pure. A straight essential oil can be dangerous to apply directly to the face so be sure it is diluted with water to a carrier oil like coconut or jojoba. Oil by itself will not fully moisturize your skin. Make sure add it in will your everyday moisturizer to add a boost.

Spray those Blemishes Away

Having your skin moisturized is one of the best things you can do. Using a hydrating spray can do wonders for you complexation throughout the day. Lush’s Eau Roma Water is a great refresher for dryer days. It's a nice tool to use after moisturizing to really open up your pores and let products soak in.

Exfoliate Your Pores

Every once in a while, it’s a good idea to exfoliate your skin to get rid of excess dirt and dead skin. A very common mistake is to over exfoliate. Not only will it irritate your skin, but it can cause the aging process to speed up. This can lead to early wrinkles and skin damage. You should exfoliate 2-3 types a week. Using a light exfoliator is important as well. Pixi's  Peel and Polish is a product that has lactic acid meaning it’s perfect for sensitive skin.

Drink up

It seems like this tip is posted everywhere, but it is essential to have clear and healthy skin. After all, we are mostly water. Eight glasses of water a day is recommended to keep yourself hydrated. Once you go a couple days with drinking the recommended amount of water, you’ll notice a difference in your skin.

PROTIP: Using a portable water bottle can help you track your water intake and keep you at your daily goal

Don’t Pick those Pimples, use a Patch

Picking at any blemish on your face can lead to the dirt traveling around your face which causes more blemishes and potential scarring. Keep the blemish area very clean so it can heal and avoid putting more makeup on it that will clog the pores more. You can try Cosrx pimple patches on them. Being that they are clear, it’s a new way to cover a blemish in a way that won’t clog your pores.

Don’t ‘feed’ into Blemishes

Most of the time what you eat is a reflection of your skin. There are a few lucky people who can eat food that is super greasy and never get a single pimple. If you find yourself not to be as lucky, make sure to eat greasy or unhealthy foods in moderation. The cleaner your diet is, the cleaner your skin will look.

At the End of the Day, No One is Perfect

Pimples and blemishes are a part of everyday life. There are ways to combat these ‘vibe’ ruining imperfections. Just don’t be beat yourself up if you come across one from time to time.
