Nowadays, everyone needs ways to lower their stress levels. Well, I have a few tried and true methods that I use to help me reduce stress. Hopefully, my stress beauty regimen can help one of you guys find peace as well. Here are my 5 steps to de-stress-
Apply Some Lavender
The scent of lavender has a calming effect on the brain.
Lavender is accessible in many products. You can diffuse lavender essential oil, light a lavender-infused candle, or even grow a lavender plant! But my favorite lavender product is Neal Yard Calming Salve with lavender. You can actually apply it topically which increases the benefits!
Just take a few dollops of this salve and rub it on your temples and you'll be eased into a stress-free mood. This product is perfect for
-stress headache relief
-calming nerves or anxiety
Stretch it Out
If you know me, you know that I absolutely love going to my yoga classes. They center me and give me a moment out of my busy life to just breathe it all out. So once I’ve applied my lavender salve, I roll out my mat and do a slow, gentle flow.
While Yoga helps me wind down, it also is a great form of exercise. The stretching and poses done are good for your joints. There are also yoga styles that are more fast-paced and result in you really working up a sweat. I appreciate all the benefits of a yoga session and I think you will too!
Apply a Calming Mask
Now once I’m done releasing the stress from my body I jump into even more relaxing self care with a face mask. We can all have hormone changes when we go through stress, and hormone changes can cause changes in your skin. For most, your skin either becomes dry and cracks, or you gather excess oil clogging up your pores.
Masks can transform stressed skin and bring your skin back to normal. I recommend checking out the Neova Copper Moisture Mask. Its formula replenishes moisture and improves skin texture with a copper peptide complex. This mask takes a solid 20 minutes, for all of the ingredients to absorb and work their magic. That gives you more time to relax, moisturize and reduce redness.
A Warm Bath
After stretching out your muscles, treat them to some healing with a warm bath. I like to add Epsom Salt to my bath to relax even more.
If you like to add a little ‘something’ to your bath to make it feel even more luxurious grab a bath bomb! Be sure to check the ingredients as some bath bombs include icky dyes and fragrance which can be harmful to our bodies. Search for beth bombs that are coconut oil and Epsom salt based that use natural fragrance and dye!
Catch Some Zzz’s
Finally, get some rest! No matter how stressful the day, I feel like going to bed can heal my soul. Sleep gives the body time to reset and start new in the morning. We all know that sleep is beneficial for our health and it can also be beneficial for our minds too. After all my other steps I get into my very comfy pajamas and go to sleep - ready to feel better in the morning.
Stress can do a number on the body, so we need to make sure we are following steps to treat our body well enough to handle the stress and stay healthy. If you follow this stress relief regimen I hope you feel as relaxed as I do.
