Recipes for Healthy Skin and Hair: The Peach Ginger Smoothie

Jessica here! I’m back with another healthy drink for you: The peach ginger smoothie. I love these recipes because they’re simple. Though I’ll be guiding you through the recipe, there isn’t a right or a wrong way to make this smoothie. (Unless you’re counting macros or calories.) Experiment with this recipe to find the consistency you desire. In my case, I like a thinner consistency so that I can drink it on the go.

What You’ll Need to Make a Peach Ginger Smoothie

Remember, there is no way to mess up this smoothie. Adjust the ingredients as you see fit. If you want a thicker smoothie, don’t add as much liquid. If you’re looking for a thinner smoothie, add more liquid as you blend to get the desired consistency.

  1. ½ a lemon
  2. 1 peach (The riper, the sweeter the smoothie will taste.)
  3. A chunk of ginger
  4. 2 cups of spinach
  5. 3 tbsp of chia seeds
  6. 1 scoop of vegan protein powder
  7. 1 large can of coconut water
  8. 1 cup of almond milk
  9. A splash of water

Directions for Blending

  1. Combine the ingredients into the blender. I try to disperse them evenly in the blender. You’ll want to adjust the amount of ginger to your taste buds. Personally, I love the taste and am always looking for an extra boost to my immune system.
  2. Add a splash of water to help the fruits and vegetables blend well.
  3. Blend! Remember, the pulse function is your friend.

All of the ingredients in this smoothie will make you feel good and look better. More importantly, the ingredients are simple: just like good health! It’s the simple actions we take every day that builds to a healthier you.

For the sake of this blog, I’m going to cover the big ingredients. You can add whatever kind of protein powder you like. I recommend vegan protein powder, but this can be substituted. The same can be said for almond milk.

The Health Benefits of Lemon

Super citrus that helps decrease wrinkles and blemishes, lemon boosts your immune system and balances the PH of your body. I touched on this in our last blog about the Raspberry Lemonade shake.

The Health Benefits of Peach

Peaches are one of nature’s delights. Rich in Vitamin A, Vitamin C, and Potassium- these super fruits help keep the cells of the body healthy. Healthy cells mean healthy skin and hair ;) To add to that, the Vitamin A in peaches in another immunity booster.

The Health Benefits of Ginger

I could write an entire blog dedicated to the health benefits of ginger. Another amazing ingredient with a multitude of health benefits, ginger is an immunity booster on a mission to make a healthier you. The anti-inflammatory properties of ginger help keep redness down while assisting your workout routine and supporting your digestive system. What can’t ginger do?!

Ginger has a strong flavour. One that I love. Which is why I mentioned a ‘chunk’ above. I’ve found that you really need to adjust the amount of ginger you want in this shake to your individual tastes.

The Health Benefits of Spinach

Did you eat your greens growing up? If not, it’s not too late to start! Spinach is full of health benefits. In addition to fighting wrinkles and acne, this green is filled with folate, vitamin A, iron, and vitamin K. It’s also a great source of omega-3’s, a well-known fatty acid that helps the brain function.

The Health Benefits of Chia Seeds

A lot of vegetarians get asked where we get our nutrients. From chia seeds, of course! Chia seeds are full of everything the brain and body need to function at its best. I use them in tons of recipes! From the beauty bowl to this smoothie, they’re perfect for nearly any recipe you can think of.

The Health Benefits of Coconut Water

Coconut water has a lot of its own benefits, too! Not only does it help you stay hydrated, but it also has anti-ageing properties that help balance PH and keep skin firm and strong.
