We get a ton of questions about how to put on lashes, so naturally we recorded a video on how to put on strip false eyelashes.
For those of you looking to get out the door as fast as possible, strip lashes are a quick and easy way to eliminate mascara and get a complete look in just a few minutes.
What You’ll Need:
Strip false eyelashes. We recommend the Man Eater lashes.
Duo lash glue. You can snag this off our site or use your favorite lash glue.
Eyeliner. We’re using the Marc Jacobs black eyeliner, you can use whichever you like.
A mirror. If you can’t hold a mirror while putting on lashes, sit directly in front of one.
Cuticle cutters. To trim the lashes if necessary.
1 Prep Your Face
Before putting on false eyelashes, you’ll want to make sure that you’ve applied your eye makeup. You’ll also want to make sure that you apply a line of eyeliner right at the lash line. Not only will this create a nice clean line, it will also make sure that any flesh-toned spots that are peering through the lashes are covered.
2 Measure the Lashes
Gently pull the lash from the outside corner off the packaging.
Hold the the strip falsies to your lash line to see how they sit on your eye. If the lash extends past the length of your eye, you’ll need to trim the strip lashes to fit your eyes.
In the event that you do need to trim the lashes, trim from the outside corner (unless the inner part of the lash is the side with an issue). Use a pair of cuticle cutters and do your best to make a precise cut.
It’s important to note that the inner corner is almost always the shorter corner. If you’re not confident in your ability to keep the lashes in the correct order, leave the second one on the packaging until you’re ready to move on to the other eye.
3 Applying the Strip Eyelashes
Time to pull out the lash glue! Before you pick up the lashes, hold the glue upright and gently squeeze the bottom. This will ensure that any air pockets are removed before you take the tube of lash glue to the lashes.
Run the glue along the lash line of the falsies. Remember, you do not need to use a ton of glue, just enough to make sure the entire seam is covered. If your hands are naturally shaky, try using a qtip to coat the seam of the false eyelashes with glue.
Allow the glue a 15-30 seconds to dry. This allows the glue to oxidize and become tacky. This tack will help the lashes adhere to your eye. Then, bend the lash a little to make the strip more pliable and easy to position.
With a mirror in front of you, place the lash right on the base of your lash line. Gently press the lash into the line and use the mirror to make sure the entire lash is on.
With one lash done, all you need to do is repeat the process on the other eye and you’re done!
Practice makes perfect! As you use false eyelashes more and more, they’ll be much easier to apply. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out in the video comments or right here on the blog.
