How to Make Your Face Look Skinnier

There are many ways to make a round face look skinnier; everything from the way we apply our makeup to the haircuts we choose and even our skincare routines. Keep reading below for the most effective ways to make your face look skinnier.

You can use bronzer to contour your face to make it look skinnier. The key is to choose a bronzer that is one shade darker than your skin tone, so that your make up looks natural.

Using an angled blush brush, apply the bronzer at the hollows of your cheeks, temples, the edge of your forehead, and down your jawline. The darker color will look like a shadow from your face rather than your actual face.

  • Start by brushing the bronzer at the top of your cheekbones, in line with the top of your ear. Sweep the bronzer up towards your forehead and down towards your jawline (you will feel as if you are drawing the “no 3” round the edges of your face).
  • Brush it along the top of your forehead right to the left.
  • Using a small angle brush, brush the bronzer along the sides of your nose to the corner of your brows to give your nose some structure.

Use highlighter along with the bronzer for a more effective contour. Highlighter should be a shade lighter than your natural skin tone, so it can make your skin glow without looking too unnatural.

Place the highlighter on top of your cheekbones, on top of the brows and dab a bit on your chin. The highlighter will pull the center of your face forward emphasizing the illusion of having a skinnier face.

***To really create an illusion of your face being skinner, your makeup needs to be seamless. Make sure to blend your bronzer, blush, and highlighter into one another. ***

Dramatic Eyes

Draw attention to your eyes; think bold eyeshadow, thick eyeliner, black mascara, and add eyelashes to complete the look.  Having bright eyes gives people a focal point to focus on.

You want their eyes to be drawn to the middle of your face and not the edges. You can also, apply a dab of concealer to the circles under your eyes to make them stand out more.

Arch Eyebrows

Arch your eyebrows more to help make your face look skinnier. Try giving your brows a delicate arch in the center that lines up with your eyes. Having arched brows, give your face some structure therefore decreasing the round appearance of your face.

Style Your Hair With Body

Styling your hair with some height will help you to create the illusion of your face being longer than it is.

Facial Massage

Waking up to a puffy or bloated face can affect the roundness of your face also. To stop this from happening, drink lots of water before bed and try giving yourself a facial massage in the morning. A massage will help to move out any build up of fluid that is stuck in your face.

Elongate your face by accessorizing with longer, dangly earrings. You want them just long enough to elongate the neck. Too long will actually make your neck look short.
