It’s no secret that the summer sun can damage your skin. To prevent long term damage and reduce your chance of skin cancer, follow these skin care rules to prevent your skin from drying out in the summer.
We all know the importance of staying moisturized. In the summer, it’s especially important to moisturize in the morning and at night. Make sure that you use vegan and cruelty-free products. The honest truth is that what you put on your body is just as important as what you put in your body. Always read the label before purchasing any product for your skin. That includes your hair, too.
Build up from sweat in the summer is all too common. When you shower, avoid using harmful products that include sulfates, parabens, and/or perfumes. The pH of water alone is enough to dry out your skin so make sure to moisturize after you get out of the shower.
If you are a swimmer, make sure you utilize the showers and wash as much chlorine off your skin as you can. Chlorine is very damaging your skin so the last thing that you want is any residue left behind. Again, I can’t stress this enough, MOISTURIZE, MOISTURIZE, MOISTURIZE.
The inside of your body needs to stay properly moisturized too. 😉 During hot temperatures, your body cools itself down by sweating so you’ll likely need to drink more water than normal.
In the summer, you should drink half of your body weight in ounces a day. For example: if you weight 150 pounds, you should drink 75 ounces of water per day during the hot summer months.
