Holiday Detox For Glowing Skin

Too much holiday fun can leave your skin feeling less than radiant. The late nights, fatty, sugary foods, and alcohol take their toll on your skin and throw your body off balance with the overindulgence during the holiday season. These factors plus the winter weather can have your skin looking dull and you feeling sluggish just in general. But, luckily, with a little tender loving care, you can get your glowing skin back.

Detox Your Organs

First, it is necessary to help your body detox from the rich food and alcohol. You can give your body some help by giving your liver an extra flush with some milk thistle as tea. Milk thistle acts as an antioxidant and helps detoxify your liver.  It will give your liver an additional flush, if you don’t help detoxify your liver, all of the toxins will find a way out of your body, and it’s usually through your pores which could cause your skin to break out.

Eating foods high in antioxidants help fight toxins in your body as well. When looking to increase antioxidant foods, think about eating the colors of the rainbow to help ensure you are getting the correct nutrients for glowing skin, these foods include purple, red and blue grapes, blueberries, raspberries, strawberries, nuts, broccoli, spinach, kale, sweet potatoes, tea, whole grains, beans, and fish.

Glowing Skin

Second, winter is hard on the skin, with the cold and dryness, skin can become flaky and clog pores, which will prevent its ability to breath and release toxins. It’s essential to moisture your skin. Essential oil blends can help with detoxing and purifying the surface. Some essential oils that are good for detoxifying the skin are tangerine, lemon, lime, grapefruit, orange, juniper berry, and cypress.

As well as moisturizing your skin, you also need to exfoliate, especially if you have congested pores. You can use clay masks to help clean pores in between exfoliating and moisturizing your skin. It’s essential to at least once a week exfoliate your skin to remove dead skin cells and open pores.

A peppermint facial and mask helps dissolve the excess oils in your skin and gives your skin a cooling, refreshing sensation. It’s an excellent facial and mask to clean the pores and kill bacteria that causes acne.

Drink Lots of Water!

Lastly, to keep your skin healthy and glowing, it’s vital to drink water. A detox water can help you get the necessary nutrients that are needed for healthy and glowing skin. Water alone is important because it keeps your skin hydrated and flushes out toxins in your body.

Adding fruits, vegetables, and herbs to your water is also a way to get the right antioxidant foods and improve your skin. When drinking detox water, focus on fruits and vegetables that have the most skin-enhancing ingredients, like citrus fruits, strawberries, apple, cucumber, mint, watermelon, apple cider vinegar, aloe vera, peppermint, ginger, and tropical fruit.

After, the holidays it’s important to do a holiday detox, which includes helping your liver get rid of toxins, drinking lots of water, eating antioxidant foods, exfoliating skin on a regular schedule, and clay face masks. Following this routine will have your skin glowing in no time. See you next time, and remember to live, lash, love!
